Sara Ali Khan to play the lead character in the upcoming film Ae Watan Mere Watan. 

The Amazon Original Movie is produced by the Dharmatic Entertainment banner. Varun Dhawan, super-fan and Prime Bae, revealed that Sara Ali Khan is part of Ae Watan Mere Watan. Directed by Kannan Iyer, the film is said to go on floors this month. 

Varun noted that Sara Ali Khan will play a valiant, lion-hearted freedom fighter in a fictional tale set against the backdrop of the Quit India Movement in 1942. Written by Darab Farooqui and Kannan Iyer, the thriller drama is inspired by true events.

Meanwhile, Sara, who was last seen in Atrangi Re, has a slew of films in the pipeline, including Gaslight and Laxman Utekar's untitled project.
