Vikram Gokhale’s condition improving: Pune Hospital

‘He is likely to be off ventilator support in next 48 hours,’ said a spokesperson of the hospital

The health of veteran actor Vikram Gokhale is showing slow but steady improvement, the authorities of a Pune-based hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, said on Friday.

He had been undergoing treatment at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital here following health complications.

"Gokhale is showing slow but steady improvement. He is opening his eye and moving his limbs and is likely to be off ventilator support in next 48 hours," said Shirish Yadkikar, spokesperson of the hospital.

On Wednesday evening, it was reported that the actor had been “admitted to Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital a few days back”. The report added that his condition remains critical. He had retired from Marathi theatre in 2016 due to persistent throat issues.

The actor made his film debut in the 1971 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Parwana. He is best known for his performances in films like Hum Dil De Chuke SanamAgneepath, and Khuda Gawah. He won the National Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his performance in the Marathi film Anumati. In 2010, he made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Aaghaat. He was last seen in the Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty-starrer Nikamma.
