Vikram Gokhale alive, on life support: Family

Veteran Marathi and Hindi film actor Vikram Gokhale’s family has refuted reports of his death but informed that he is “still critical.”

On Wednesday night the news of his demise spread and many celebrities shared condolence messages on social media. The 82-year-old actor is currently undergoing treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune following health complications.

"He is still critical and on life support. He has not passed away yet. Keep praying for him," said Vikram Gokhale's daughter, as per reports.

Gokhale’s family friend Anand Dave said, “As of now he has been administered some specialised medicine. He will be taken to his residence in Pune tomorrow morning at around 10 am. Gokhale's two daughters have requested not to spread rumours about his health.” 

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn tweeted about the veteran actor’s demise. He wrote, “Vikram Gokhale Sir brought a lot of gravitas to the roles he essayed. He always stood tall. I had the good fortune of sharing screen time with him. His passing away is very sad. I pray his soul finds eternal peace. RIP Vikram Sir. Condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”

The actor made his film debut in the 1971 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Parwana. He is best known for his performances in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Agneepath, and Khuda Gawah. He won the National Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his performance in the Marathi film Anumati. In 2010, he made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Aaghaat. He was last seen in the Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty-starrer Nikamma.
