Aamir Khan to take a break from acting

We had earlier reported that Aamir Khan was set to bankroll and star in Champions, the official remake of the Spanish film Campeones.

However, in a recent media interaction, the actor-filmmaker shared that he has stepped away from acting in the film but he would still be producing it.

“Aamir and Sony had multiple meetings over the last few months and finally came to a common ground that they would team up on something bigger. He met the Sony bosses even during his trip to the US. While he has stepped back from acting in Campeones in the capacity of an actor, he will continue to be associated with the film as a producer,” stated the Pinkvilla report.

But more than the news about him stepping away from Champions, it was another news that created ripples within the industry. Expressing his thoughts about being in the producer’s chair for this specific film, Aamir shared, “It's a wonderful script, it's a beautiful story, and it’s a very heartwarming and lovely film but I feel I want to take a break. I want to be with my family, I want to be with my mom and my kids."

The actor’s last release Laal Singh Chaddha was subject to an online boycott campaign and proved to be a dud at the box office. It was made at a budget of Rs 180 crore but could only manage to garner Rs 60 crore.
