Shah Rukh Khan stopped at Mumbai Airport for carrying luxury watches, leaves after paying fine 

The actor was returning to Mumbai after receiving an award in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, when he was stopped by airport authorities

Shah Rukh Khan was stopped by officials of the Customs Department at the Mumbai Airport on Friday night, reports state. 

Shah Rukh was returning to Mumbai after receiving an award in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates when he was stopped by the airport authorities.

The actor had to reportedly pay a fine of Rs 6.83 lakh in Customs Duty over some luxury watches that he and those traveling with him were carrying. He was permitted to leave the airport after paying the fine. 

As per media reports, six luxury watches of around Rs 18 lakh were found in the actor's baggage. 

On Friday, Shah Rukh Khan attended the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) 2022 in the UAE where he was honored with the Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative award. He said during his acceptance speech, "All of us, no matter where we live, what colour we are, what religion we follow or what songs we dance to… thrive in a culture of love, peace and compassion.”

The actor also repeated an iconic line from his film Baazigar.
