Actor-turned-filmmaker Rumana Molla's debut directorial Miminum starring Saba Azad, Namit Das and Geetanjali Kulkarni has wrapped production. Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has joined the cast of the film in a special role.

Set in Belgium, Minimum follows Fauzia, a newly-wed immigrant stuck in a house where her mother-in-law, Ruxana, insidiously keeps her captive. The film deals with themes of transactional marriage and migration. It was shot in Belgium, Serbia and India.

Brought up in Belgium herself, Rumana has appeared in many Hindi films including the Naseeruddin Shah starrer Irada, which won two National Awards in 2017.

On being reunited with the legendary actor, Rumana says, "This film has been a labour of love and I can definitely say that all the turmoil was worth it. And shooting with Naseer sir was truly a dream come true. I never thought I would get to act with him again, let alone direct him. I feel unbelievably fortunate. His kindness and his generosity are unparalleled. He truly is the greatest."

Minimum is produced by Platoon One Films and Ellanar Films. The makers are aiming for an early 2023 release.

Naseeruddin Shah last appeared in the anthology Modern Love Mumbai (in the Vishal Bhardwaj segment Mumbai Dragon) and the short film The Miniaturist Of Junagadh.
