Salman Khan’s security has been upgraded by the Maharashtra government. Now, the actor will be given a Y+ security.

This means commandos will now be among the 12 armed cops he was given under 'X' security. This comes in light of recent threats to him allegedly by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Actors Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher have also been given 'X' category security.

In June this year, an attempt was also made to kill Salman in Mumbai’s Bandra by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. As per a report by Times Network, Lawrence Bishnoi had sent a sharpshooter to Mumbai. The shooter had done a recce around Salman’s residence Galaxy Apartments. He had hidden a small-bore weapon inside a hockey stick and planned to assassinate Salman when he heads out to cycle around his neighbourhood without a bodyguard. However, the shooter retracted his plan at the last minute as a PCR vehicle was passing by.

In the same month, a threat letter was also put on the bench where Salman’s father screenwriter Salim Khan sits during his morning walk at Bandra’s Bandstand. The letter had stated “Moosa Wale jaisa kar dunga (will make you like Moose Wala)”. Lawrence Bishnoi, a criminal from Punjab, and his associate Goldy Brar are the main accused in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

On the work front, Salman is awaiting the release of Tiger 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.
