While it is known that Suriya's Soorarai Pottru is being remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar set to essay the lead role. Suriya, who is also producing the remake, has now announced that he will be appearing in a cameo. The Jai Bhim actor made the announcement on Twitter.

While sharing a picture with Akshay Kumar from the shooting spot of the film, Suriya wrote, "Akshay Kumar sir, to see you as Vir was nostalgic! Sudha Kongara, can see our story beautifully coming alive again! Enjoyed every minute with team Soorarai Pottru Hindi in a brief cameo!"

Directed by Sudha Kongara, who also directed the original, the film stars Radhika Madan as the female lead. GV Prakash, who composed the soundtrack of the Tamil version, will also be scoring for the film. The yet-to-be-titled film is bankrolled by Suriya's 2D Entertainment in association with Abundantia Entertainment and Cape Of Good Films.

On the film front, Suriya has Vaadivaasal and a film with Bala in his slate of releases.
