The character poster of Akkineni Nagarjuna from Brahmastra is out. In the film, Nagarjuna plays Anish, an archaeologist and 'artist' who wields the 'nandi astra'. A caption in Hindi reads, "That who has strength of a thousand nandis (bulls)... Even darkness shivers in his fear."

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra is a superhero fantasy film set in the proposed 'Astraverse'. The first part in the trilogy, Shiva, focuses on Ranbir Kapoor's eponymous character, as he sets out to find the Brahmastra, a mythic divine weapon described as the most powerful in the universe. The film also features Alia Bhatt as 'Isha' and Amitabh Bachchan as 'Guru'. 

The characters seem demarcated by their weapons. In a previous poster, Big B was wielding the 'Prabhastra: The Sword of Lights'. 

According to prior reports, Nagarjuna's character is an archaeologist in Brahmastra. He leads a group of students on an expedition to restore an ancient temple in Varanasi. An important event leads Shiva (Ranbir) and Isha (Alia) to the ancient town, before the story shifts to the Himalayas. 

Brahmāstra is set to release on September 9 this year. The film's trailer drops on June 15.
