68th National Film Awards 2022: Akshay Kumar congratulates Soorarai Pottru team on the big win

Actor Akshay Kumar, who is currently remaking Tamil film Soorarai Pottru in Hindi, wished the team for winning the National Film Awards at its 68th edition, announced on Friday.

“Over the moon to see #SooraraiPottru win the top honours at the National Awards. Heartfelt congratulations my brother @Suriya_offl, #AparrnaBalamurali and my director #SudhaKongara. Humbled to be working in the Hindi adaptation of such an iconic film,” Akshay Kumar tweeted.

Soorarai Pottru features Suriya and Aparna Balamurali. Both the lead actors brought laurels by winning the Best Actor and Actress Awards, respectively. Soorarai Pottru's composer GV Prakash was awarded for the Best Background Score. In addition, the film’s director Sudha Kongara bagged the National Award under the Best Screenplay Category. Sudha shares screenplay credits with Shalini Usha Nair. Her Directorial also won the Best Film Award.

Meanwhile, Sudha is currently directing the Hindi adaptation of Soorarai Pottru with Akshay Kumar and and Radhika Madan. Speaking to Cinema Express, she noted that it is yet another fresh project. "It's a new language for me. And I am excited to take up the challenge. We have reworked the screenplay, and I am super happy to work on it,” said Sudha.
