Ajay Devgn will be donning the director’s hat once again with Bholaa, a remake of the 2019 Tamil film Kaithi which was helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Ajay, whose last directorial was Runway 34, has also directed U Me Aur Hum (2008) and Shivaay (2016).

Interestingly, when this film was announced in April, it was stated that Devgn’s cousin, Dharmendra Sharma is directing the film. However, it now seems like the actor has taken over the reins.

Devgn is set to finish principal photography by August 20. Asked how he managed to shoot the film so quickly post the release of his April release Runway 34, Ajay said, "Well the preparation was done earlier on. It was just a question of getting behind the camera again and saying the three magic words-Lights, camera, action!"

Bholaa tells the story of Dilli, a former convict, who tries to meet his daughter after being released from jail. However, his plans are thwarted because of a drug raid planned by an inspector. The original film, Kaithi starred Karthi along with Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman and George Maryan.

Bholaa is set for a theatrical release on March 30, 2023. Apart from this, Ajay has a handful of upcoming films including Maidaan and Thank God. He will also be seen in a cameo role in Ranveer Singh-starrer Cirkus
