Lata Mangeshkar put off ventilator as health improves, still in ICU

The 92-year-old singer is being treated at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was extubated on Thursday as her health is showing signs of improvement. She, however, continues to be in the ICU at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

An update was released by the family of the 92-year-old singer. It read, "Lata didi continues to be in the ICU at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai under treatment. She has been given a TRIAL of extubation (off the invasive Ventilator) this morning."

"Presently, she is showing signs of improvement but will remain under observation of the team of doctors headed by Dr Pratit Samdani. We thank each one of you for your prayers and good wishes."

Lata Mangeshkar had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month. She was also diagnosed with pneumonia.
