Akshay Kumar on Friday shut down rumours that he's attending a public event in Lucknow amid the pandemic. The actor was responding to a Twitter user claiming Akshay will attend one 'Business Icon Awards' on January 23 in Lucknow. Akshay dismissed the claim as 'untrue'.

"As much as I would love to visit Lucknow soon, this news is absolutely untrue," he wrote. A creative of the purported awards with Akshay's image was also circulated online.

Akshay's new film, Prithviraj, was recently postponed amid surging COVID-19 cases. The film was expected to release on January 21. The actor has three other releases this year— Bachchan Pandey, Raksha Bandhan and Ram Setu.
