Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to the ICU of Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19. She has mild symptoms.

The news was confirmed by Mangeshkar's niece Rachna to news agency ANI. She revealed that the 92-year-old singer is fine and has been admitted as a precautionary measure.

"She is doing fine; has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers,” ANI quoted Rachna as saying.

Lata was last admitted to a hospital in 2019 after complaining of breathing problems.

The veteran is among the greatest living playback singers of India. She has recorded over 1000 songs in multiple languages in her seven-decade career. She's a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and three National Film Awards. Her sisters, Meena, Asha and Usha, are also renowned singers, and her brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, is a music director.
