Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files has been postponed. The film, which was set to release on January 26 this year, has been pushed due to surging COVID-19 cases.

Making the announcement on social media, producers Zee Studios wrote, “Due to the significant spike in Covid cases in the country and the current scenario on theatres being partially or fully shut down in many states, we have decided to postpone the release of our movie The Kashmir Files. Let’s fight the pandemic together. Wear mask & stay safe!”

The Kashmir Files is a drama exploring the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus. The film features Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi and Chinmay Mandlekar. It is written and directed by Vivek.

According to a note from the makers, The Kashmir Files is 'a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of Kashmiri Pandit community'.

Vivek's last film, The Tashkent Files (2019), was about the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
