We had previously reported that Ridley Scott will be joining forces with Joaquin Phoenix for the epic actioner Kitbag. It was also reported that Jodie Comer, who won rave reviews for her performance in Scott's The Last Duel, has been cast in the project. Reports now suggest that Comer has exited the project due to scheduling conflicts, with Venessa Kirby set to replace her. If the negotiations see fruition, Kirby will be playing Empress Josephine in the Napoleon biopic.

The film has been written by David Scarpa, who has collaborated with Scott in All the Money in the World. In a recent interview, Scott revealed that Kitbag will have six battle sequences. The film is being financed by Apple Studios, and is expected to begin filming in Spring this year.

Kirby, who has earned an Oscar nomination last year for Pieces of a Woman, has The SonSuddenly, and the seventh installment of Mission: Impossible in her slate.
