Veteran singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday. He was 69. The news of his demise was announced by the Press Trust of India. "Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri dies in Mumbai hospital, says doctor," tweeted the news service. However, the family of the deceased is yet to come up with a formal statement.

The cause of his death is currently unknown, but the singer was admitted to a hospital in April last year but was discharged shortly after. 

Some of his most popular songs include 'Bambai se aaya mera dost' from Aap Ki Khatir (1977), 'Dekha Hai Maine Tujhko Phir' from Wardat (1981), ''Raat baaki baat baaki' from Namak Halaal (1982) and 'Jeena bhi kya hai jeena' from Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki (1984), to name a few.

He had also composed music for hit film such as Namak Halaal, Sharaabi, Dance Dance, Commando, Saaheb, Gang Leader, and Sailaab, to name a few.
