Lata Mangeshkar's ashes were immersed in Nashik's Ramkund on the banks of the Godavari river on Thursday.

One of our greatest singers, Lata passed away on February 6 in Mumbai after battling Covid-19. She was 92. She was cremated with full state honours.

On Thursday, Lata's sister Usha Mangeshkar, nephew Adinath Mangeshkar and other family members arrived at the Ramkund site around 10 am.

A number of Nashik residents also thronged the Goda Ghat in the area to pay tributes to the melody queen.

“She (Lata) was not my sister, but mother. All the rituals have been performed on an auspicious muhurat,” Usha Mangeshkar later told reporters.
