Public holiday declared in Maharashtra to mourn Lata Mangeshkar's demise

The government of Maharashtra has declared tomorrow (February 7) as a public holiday in the state to mourn the demise of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. The news came through the official Twitter handle of Maharashtra's chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray. 

"The state government has declared a public holiday in the state on Monday, February 7, 2022, to mourn the demise of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar," the tweet read.

Lata Mangeshkar passed away earlier today in Mumbai due to multiple organ failures. She was 92. It has also been announced that the departed singer will be cremated with state honours in Mumbai.
