On Thursday, Indians woke up to a pleasant news to learn that the Naatu Naatu song from RRR, featuring its leads NTR Jr and Ram Charan, has been shortlisted in the Best Original Song category at the Oscars.

If it makes the final list, this will be the first time a song from an Indian film would be nominated at the Oscars.

Reacting to this, Ram Charan took to Twitter to celebrate the shortlist. “What a historic moment for the entire Indian Film Industry… Couldn’t be more honoured to note that NaatuNaatu becomes the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards! SS Rajamouli garu and MM Keeravaani garu, it’s all your vision and magic.. #RRRForOscars,” the actor wrote.

Naatu Naatu became one of the chartbusters from the RRR album and was acclaimed for its fast-paced choreography of the hook-step. The song was composed by MM Keeravani.
