Veteran director Rajkumar Santoshi is back with a new film nine years after Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (2013).
Titled Gandhi - Godse Ek Yudh, Rajkumar's next will depict 'the war of two extremely opposite ideologies' between Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse.
Mahatma Gandhi was slained on January 30, 1948 in New Delhi's Birla House by the extremist Nathuram Godse.
During his trial, Godse, a member of the Hindu Mahasabha, explained his motivations for the assassination, saying he held Gandhi responsible for the partition of India and for favouring Muslims.
The makers released a 1-minute 11-second announcement video for the film. It strings together vignettes from Rajkumar's iconic films, namely Ghayal, Damini, Ghatak, Khakhee, Andaz Apna Apna, Lajja, China Gate, Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani and The Legend of Bhagat Singh. It then unveils the title of Gandhi - Godse Ek Yudh and a release date of January 26, 2023.
AR Rahman has composed the music of Gandhi - Godse Ek Yudh. It is produced by Manila Santoshi. Other details about the film are currently awaited.
Rajkumar Santoshi has another film, Bad Boy, in the offing. It stars Mithun Chakraborty's youngest son, Namashi Chakraborty. However, there's been no update about the film's release.
