Kartik Aaryan has joined the chorus of voices from Bollywood praising Rishab Shetty's Kantara

In a recent interview with Zoom, Kartik said he would love to do more 'rooted, grounded' films like Kantara.

A commercial and critical success, Kantara is an action drama set in coastal Karnataka. The film draws on folklore and mythology to highlight issues of tribal rights and forest encroachment. Bhoota Kola, an ancient ritual dance performed for local deities or daivas, and Kambala, a buffalo race popular among the Tulu people, are featured prominently in the film.

"I would love to do rooted, grounded films,” Kartik, largely known for starring in mainstream commercial fare, told Zoom.

“I am completely desi. My blood is completely desi. I love watching such films and would love to do such films,” he said.

Recently, actor Hrithik Roshan also praised Kantara after the Hindi version of the film started streaming on Netflix.

"I have learnt a lot by watching Kantara. The power of Rishab Shetty’s conviction makes the film extraordinary. Top-notch storytelling, direction, acting. The peak climax transformation gave me goosebumps. Respect and kudos to the team,” Hrithik tweeted.

Kartik Aaryan was in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Freddy this year. His upcoming film is Shehzada.
