Welcome and Hera Pheri producer AG Nadiadwala passes away

Veteran Bollywood producer Abdul Gaffar Nadiadwala passed away in Mumbai following a prolonged illness, his son Mushtaque Nadiadwala said on Monday. He was the uncle of filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala. He was also the producer of popular films like Welcome (2007), Hera Pheri (2000), Awara Paagal Deewana (2002).

He was 92 and breathed his last after battling multiple ailments at Breach Candy Hospital around 3 am on Monday.

Gaffarbhai - as he was popularly known in the film industry - is survived by his three sons, Feroze, Hafiz and Mushtaque.

The last rites of Gaffarbhai - who was one of the founders of the major Nadiadwala films banner, with studios in Mumbai and Gujarat - shall be performed at the Irla Masjid Cemetery in Vile Parle, on Monday at 4 pm, his family informed.

In his filmmaking career spanning over five decades, he made films like Aa Gale Lag JaLahu Ke Do RangShankar ShambhuJhootha SachSone Pe SuhagaWatan Ke Rakhwale and more.
