Raju Srivastava 'critical and on ventilator', responding to treatment

Comedian and actor Raju Srivastava suffered a heart attack yesterday and is admitted to AIIMS hospital in New Delhi. Raju, 58, was on the treadmill at a hotel gym when he suddenly collapsed.

As per an update in PTI, Raju Srivastava "is critical and on ventilator" in the coronary care unit (CCU) of AIIMS. He underwent angioplasty and, according to ANI, is responding to the treatment. 

After several small-time acting stints, Raju Srivastava shot to fame as a stand-up comic on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. His observational style of humour and impeccable mimicry skills made him a household name. He appeared in Bigg Boss 3, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, but did not win. In 2014, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after quitting the Samajwadi Party in UP. 

Raju Srivastava's film credits include Baazigar, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, Bombay to Goa, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Firangi and others.
