Kiran Rao's upcoming directorial has been titled Laapataa Ladies. Set in 2001 rural India, the film follows 'the jolly mess that ensues when two young brides get lost from a train'.
The teaser of Laapataa Ladies will be attached to Aamir Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha, which is releasing in theatres on Thursday.
The main cast of Laapataa Ladies includes Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam, besides two newcomers who play the brides. The names of the leads are yet to be revealed.
Based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, the screenplay and dialogue is written by Sneha Desai with additional dialogue by Divyanidhi Sharma. The film is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions.
Kiran had last directed Dhobi Ghat in 2011. Aamir and Kiran announced their separation in 2021, while resolving to keep collaborating on films and other ventures together.
Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi adaptation of Forrest Gump (1994). The film stars Aamir along with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh.
