After Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar responded to ongoing boycott trends against their respective films. 

Aamir and Akshay both have releases this Friday. While Aamir stars in Laal Singh Chaddha, the Indian adaptation of Forrest Gump, Akshay has Raksha Bandhan, Aanand L Rai's film about a man striving to get his four younger sisters married. 

Over the last few weeks, #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha and #BoycottRakshaBandhan have been trending on Twitter. In a recent media interaction, Akshay spoke about these trends and posited that boycotting films will affect the economy of the country. 

Talking of online trolls, the actor was quoted as saying, "There are a few people who do all these things, they are doing mischiefs, that’s okay. They can do whatever, anybody can do whatever they want. It’s a free country, everybody is allowed to do whatever they want."

However, he countered by noting that any industry helps the economy of India and boycotting films doesn't make any sense. "We all are on verge of making our country the biggest and the greatest. I would just request to not get into it as it will be better for our country.”

Raksha Bandhan also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb and others. The film is co-written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. It releases on August 11, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival.
