Hindi-film lyricist Maya Govind passes away at 82

Hindi-film lyricist, poet and writer Maya Govind passed away in Mumbai on Thursday. She was 82.

As per reports, in January this year, she was admitted to Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu due to blood clotting in the brain, but was later discharged and was undergoing treatment at home. The songwriter’s funeral is likely to be held on Thursday in Mumbai.

In an illustrious career, Maya Govind wrote songs for over 350 films and music albums along with several TV shows in the 80s. She was famous for writing songs like Aankhon Mein Base Ho Tum from Suniel Shetty, Naseeruddin Shah-starrer Takkar, Main Khiladi Tu Anadi (Title track), Thehre Hue Paani Mein (Dalal) and Gale Mein Laal Tie from the film Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam.

Maya Govind was born on January 17, 1940 in Lucknow. She did her B.Ed before venturing into films.
