Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi will release this Diwali, the director confirmed after the announcement of theatres reopening in Maharashtra from October 22.

On Saturday, Rohit along with other film and theatre representatives met with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. It was later announced that film theatres and auditoriums will be allowed to reopen in the state from next month.

Completed in 2019, Sooryavanshi has missed multiple release dates through the pandemic. It was expected to release in April this year but was pushed due to the COVID-19 second wave. An Independence Day release was also speculated for the film but came up empty.

Sharing a picture with Uddhav Thackeray, Rohit wrote on Instagram: "Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October. And FINALLY!!! we can say, This DIWALI… AA RAHI HAI POLICE…”

Sooryavanshi is led by Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. The film is the fourth entry in Rohit's interconnected cop universe.
