Taranjit Kaur had worked with Sanjay Mishra in Ankhon Dekhi (2013). Rajat Kapoor's film revolved around a man who resolves to only believe what he has seen. Taranjit played the role of Sanjay's sister-in-law in the comedy-drama. Eight years later, the actors have reunited for Ravi Singh's Hasal.

"I'm really excited to be in the same film as Sanjay Mishra again," Taranjit, who is also a poet and producer, shares. "Though our tracks are separate, it's a pleasure working with him. (I'm) also excited to work with the other actors."

Hasal's story unfolds in four tracks. Taranjit essays a Muslim woman concerned about her daughter's well-being and safety. "Their relationship is pretty tense," Taranjit says. "There are more layers to my character... she conveys a lot only through her expressions."

Hasal will go on floors in Varanasi in December. The cast includes Ranvir Shorey, Raghav Juyal and debutant Tejasvi Singh Ahlawat.
