Kangana Ranaut has been roped in to play the role of Sita in the upcoming film, Sita The Incarnation. Based on the mythological character from the epic Ramayana, the period drama will be directed by Alaukik Desai and written by KV Vijayendra Prasad. The pan-Indian film will be released in five languages.

Kangana unveiled a poster of the upcoming period film, featuring the title logo. She wrote, “Glad to be on board for the title role with this immensely talented team of artists. With the blessings of Sita Ram. Jai Siya Ram."

Confirming the same, producer Saloni Sharma said in a statement, “Kangana symbolizes the spirit and essence of the Indian woman- fearless, daunting and daring."

Initially, speculations stated that Kareena Kapoor Khan was approached for the titular role, but things didn't progress because of remuneration issues.

Kangana Ranaut was recently seen in the trilingual Thalaivii, where she played the former actor-politician J Jayalalithaa. Apart from Sita The Incarnation, she has the action-thriller Dhaakad and Tejas, where she plays an Indian Air Force pilot.
