Actor Ghanashyam Nayak passes away

Film and television actor Ghanashyam Nayak passed away on Sunday after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was in his 70s. 

Ghanashyam Nayak was best known as Nattu Kaka in the long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He has hundreds of film, television and theatre credits in Hindi and Gujarati. Before Taarak Mehta, he'd been a part of the TV shows Khichdi, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka. One of his earlier film credits was as a child artist in Satyen Bose's Masoom (1960). He played small roles in Bollywood films like Ghatak, Ishq, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Tere Naam, Khakee and others. 

Several members of the Taarak Mehta team paid tribute to Ghanashyam Nayak on social media. He is survived by his wife and three children.
