200 - Halla Ho trailer out: caste, crime and open court

CE Features

ZEE5 has released the trailer of their new original film, 200 - Halla Ho. Inspired by true events, the film is about 200 Dalit women who descended in open court and lynched a serial rapist and gangster. The 2-minute long trailer proceeds nonlinearly, depicting the aftermath of the lynching as well as the events leading up to it.

200 - Halla Ho is written and directed by Sarthak Dasgupta (The Music Teacher). The film marks the comeback of veteran actor Amol Palekar after almost a decade. It also features Barun Sobti, Rinku Rajguru, Sahil Khattar, Saloni Batra, Indraneil Sengupta, and Upendra Limaye.

Talking about the film, Sarthak shared, "I need to convey to the audience that women should be treated equally and that Dalits’ lives matter too! This film is about those Dalit women who despite getting socially marginalised, molested, tortured and mortified, had to take law into their own hands to punish the person who was responsible for ruining their lives. It addresses the debate whether they were right or they were wrong.  I hope this film will add voice to the social change that is so needed in the society."

200 - Halla Ho releases on August 20 on ZEE5.
