The Blackening spoofs scenes from popular horror films like Saw and Scream

The first trailer for The Blackening has been released online. The film pokes fun at all the established horror/slasher tropes. Featuring an all-Black cast, the film follows a group of friends who vacation at a cabin in the woods are forced by a serial killer to play a board game that leads to disastrous yet hilarious outcomes. Developed by Lionsgate Pictures, the film is currently scheduled to release on June 16.

The Blackening spoofs scenes from popular horror films like Saw and Scream. The film is directed by Tim Story, who is best known for making films like Ride Along, Think Like A Man, and Barbershop. The film is based on a script written by Tracey Oliver and Dewayne Perkins.

The film recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received favourable reviews for its commentary on the Black experience in contemporary America.
