The first look promotional video for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular racing video game franchise Gran Turismo has been released online. The video stars brief glimpses from the film along with behind-the-scenes footage. We also get an introduction to the film from the lead actor Archie Madekwe along with actors David Harbour and Orlando Bloom.
The filmmakers have used IMAX cameras along with drone technology to capture high-speed racing scenes. The film is directed by Neil Blomkamp who is best known for sci-fi films like District 9, Elysium, and Chappie.
While the live-action adaptation is based on the best-selling video game racing series, the story of the film is based on the real-life story of Jann Mardenborough, a video game player who used his gaming skills to win real-life racing competitions.
The screenplay for the film is written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. Apart from the above-mentioned actors, the cast of the film also includes Darren Barnett, Djimon Hounsou, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, and Thomas Kretschman. Gran Turismo is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on 11 August 2023.
