Recently, we reported about the development of a documentary on actor Matthew Perry at Netflix. On Tuesday, Netflix dropped a trailer for the upcoming documentary, based on the actor who is most popular for his role in the sitcom Friends. Titled The One About Matthew Perry, it is set to arrive on Netflix on October 27, Tuesday.

The documentary series, consisting of three parts, offers never-known-before facts about the actor through testimonies from his friends and his sister, Mia Perry Bowick. For example, the The One About Matthew Perry trailer reveals that the actor spent $7 million for sobriety. According to Netflix, the series "traces his journey from a rising comedic star to the man the world still loves as their favourite Friend."

The One About Matthew Perry is directed by Mary Robertson, an Emmy award winner for her work on the The Weekly, and backed by Maxine Productions, which comes under Sony Pictures Television. Besides, Mary Robertson also serves as an executive producer for it alongside Lisa Kalikow, Aaron Saidman, and Eli Holzman.

In Friends, Perry portrayed the role of Chandler Bing, a character that brought plenty of laughter and had much emotional resonance with millions of viewers around the world. Speaking about the objective behind her series, Robertson shared that the world only knew some aspects of Perry, such as his Friends role and his history with and advocacy on drug addiction. "That’s why we set out to make this series: to let the people who knew and loved Matthew reveal the person behind the public figure," the director and executive producer shared.

Talking about her brother, Mia Perry Bowick said that he had the ability to elicit laughter and spread love among people "even in his darkest moments" in life. "I hope this series gives everyone who loved him, whether personally or from afar, a deeper appreciation for who he truly was, and the legacy he leaves behind," she shared.
