Dr Salvador Plasencia, who was one among the five people who was charged for Matthew Perry's death, has pleaded guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine weeks before the actor's overdose of the drug that led to his death.
The 43-year-old will face court judgement on December 3 and is likely to face a prison sentence of up to 40 years.
"Dr. Plasencia is profoundly remorseful for the treatment decisions he made while providing ketamine to Matthew Perry," Rolling Stone magazine quoted Plasencia's lawyer, Karen Goldstein, as saying in a statement.
"He is fully accepting responsibility by pleading guilty to drug distribution," said Goldstein.
The overdose, which claimed the life of the 54-year-old Perry, occurred at his home in Pacific Palisades, where he was found unresponsive in his hot tub.
Previously, another doctor, Mark Chavez, had pleaded guilty in October for conspiring to distribute the drug to Perry. Chavez sourced the drug and gave it to Plasencia who inturn sold it to Perry at exhorbitant prices.
He had reportedly called Perry a "moron" who would go to any extent and is willing to provide any amount of money to obtain drugs.
Plasencia had distributed 20 vials of ketamine, along with ketamine lozenges and syringes to Perry and his live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa for $4,500 between September 30 and October 12, 2023. The doctor had also agreed that he visited Perry's house to inject the drug twice and also showed his assistant how to do it.
The alleged "Ketamine Queen" who sold drugs to celebrities and affluent customers, Jasveen Sangha, is accused of selling Perry the dose that killed him. She has pleaded not guilty.
In August, two men, including Perry's live-in personal assistant, entered guilty pleas to conspiracy counts related to the distribution of ketamine.
Best known for playing Chandler Bing in the hit series F.R.I.E.N.D.S (1994-2004), he was found dead in his hot tub in Los Angeles on October 28, 2023.
