Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte reportedly died at his home in Brownsville, Texas, on October 12, 2026, at the age of 34. Previously, the cause of the actor's death was determined as suicide. On Thursday, a report revealing more information regarding his demise has surfaced.

Following an inquest report obtained by Page Six, Mitte died by hanging and was pronounced dead at 1.32 pm on October 12. The report also said that an autopsy and toxicology tests had been requested, although their findings were not included in the records. The actor's representatives issued a statement expressing their grief over the beloved actor's loss remembering him for his acting, philanthropy and disability rights activism.

RJ Mitte was widely recognised for his character as Flynn White, also referred to as Walter White Jr in the critically acclaimed crime drama Breaking Bad, created by Vince Gilligan. He played the son of Bryan Cranston's character Walter White, who lived with cerebral palsy. His performance was particularly significant as he, like his character, also suffered from cerebral palsy from a young age. The character used crutches to walk, though Mitte did not require them in real life at that time. The series ran from 2008 to 2013, spanning over 5 seasons.

Born on August 21, 1992, in Jackson Mississipi, Roy Frank "RJ" Mitte III was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of 3. He moved to Los Angeles in 2006, in search of acting opportunities to create awareness through his disability. He was cast in his breakthrough role after doing minor roles in sitcoms including Hannah Montana.

Mitte used his experiences to advocate for disability awareness. He was a Screen Actors Guild spokesman for actors with disabilities, a celebrity ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy, and the president of the nonprofit organisation, the Mitte Foundation. In 2013, he also received the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award.

Following his passing, the actor's Breaking Bad co-stars including Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Dean Norris paid emotional tributes online. Cranston, who played his father on-screen, grieved the loss by recalling Mitte's progression into a talented actor. ”He was one of the stars of a hit TV show – but still a kid," wrote Cranston.

Other than Breaking Bad, Mitte also appeared in television series like Switched at Birth and The Guardians of Justice. He also featured in several other movies like Who's Driving Doug, The Oak Room and One Eye Open. He continued working in the industry until his death in 2026, both as an actor and an independent film producer.
