With just a week left for the premiere of the last and final episode of The Boys, anticipation for the series is at an all-time high. Fans are already buzzing with theories about how the final episode, with a runtime of 1 hour and 5 minutes, is set to unfold. Some are also curious to see how the creators tie all the knots perfectly within a short runtime.
Episode 7 left fans with a heavy heart after (spoiler) Frenchie was seen sacrificing his life for his love, Kimiko. There's much speculation about how many more from the gang will have to lose their lives before it all ends. With Homelander amped up with V1, he is confident about his immortality. But with the reappearance of Marie Moreau, who has been billed to be the only one to have the capacity to defeat Homelander, all hope's not lost.
With just days left for the story to come to an end, here are some surprising theories shared on the internet. Note: These are purely based on fan theories and are not confirmed reports on the final episode.
'The Frenchman, the female and the man called Mother's Milk', or episode 7, showed Kimiko undergoing exposure to uranium in order to replicate Soldier Boy's powers. It has been established that Soldier Boy has the capacity to defeat Homelander, thereby prompting Frenchie, Sage and Butcher to try and replicate them in Kimiko, who has healing abilities. One theory explores Kimiko's experiment becoming successful and her gaining the ability to emit deadly radiation from her chest and permanently strip Homelander of his Compound V, leading him to lose his powers. He may then be spared his life, to live miserably as an ordinary man, making it poetic justice.
This theory states that Hughie will have an epic breakthrough in the final episode, where he is injected with Compound V, making him gain powers. He will then play a big part in defeating or killing Homelander, following which he will also control Butcher, who aims to kill all supes through the virus. Episode 7 showed us, through Synapse, that Butcher left Joe Kessler to die back when he was a soldier, establishing that he does not worry about casualties when the purpose is bigger. The theory even says that Hughie may kill Butcher to control him, and the latter may accept his fate peacefully.
One narrative details an idea of Homelander being killed by the supe-killing virus. Here too, Kimiko's newly acquired powers allow her to remove the compound V and V1 from Homelander's bloodstream and disarm him, who then attacks her with all his might, without realising she's infected with the virus. He then contracts it, resulting in a sad and miserable death, maybe even begging to live his life.
Ryan, who was born from a supe, didn't become one because of Compound V. So some theorists say that the supe-killing virus will not affect him, thereby making him the perfect person to infect his father. Some others go back to Marie's superpower and her ability to manipulate blood. She may help remove the V1 from his system, exposing him to the virus and thereby causing his end. However, both Ryan and Marie have not had a big presence throughout this season of The Boys.
When it comes to concluding character arcs, some speculate Hughie and Starlight will marry, while Stan Edgar will return to take care of Vought. Ryan will come under the direct care of Hughie and Annie or may be the next Homelander—either another supervillain or a responsible supe at the top of Vought. The Deep will die an ugly death, thanks to his marine friends. Soldier Boy's fate will be revealed in Vought Rising.
