On Tuesday night, Tom Cruise revealed through social media that the trailer for his upcoming film Digger is set to release on July 13, Monday. The black comedy is directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, known for titles such as Birdman, The Revenant, Babel, and 21 Grams, among others.
Digger distributor Warner Bros also shared a video featuring clips from some of Tom Cruise's best films. Known as the Tom Cruise Retrospective Trailer, the video contains clips from films such as Top Gun, Interview with the Vampire, Magnolia, Days of Thunder, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire, Born on the Fourth of July, Minority Report, Risky Business, Edge of Tomorrow, Tropic Thunder, Jack Reacher, Vanilla Sky, and the Mission: Impossible franchise, among others.
Sharing the clip, Cruise wrote, "For the last 46 years, it has been my privilege to work alongside countless talented artists and crews to create these characters, stories, and films for you all. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the movies! Digger. Only in theatres this October." Cruise started his acting career way back in 1981, making his debut with a minor role in the romantic drama Endless Love. Later that year, he landed his breakthrough role as a military academy student in Taps.
The so-called Tom Cruise Retrospective Trailer ends with a small portion from the upcoming film, where the actor's character can be seen entering what looks like a courtroom. The film is written by Iñárritu alongside Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolás Giacobone, and Sabina Berman. The makers call it "a comedy of catastrophic proportions."
Also starring Sandra Huller, jesse Plemons, John Goodman, Riz Ahmed, and Michael Stuhlbarg, among others, Digger is slated for an October 02 release in theatres.
