Apple TV has announced that The Morning Show, which stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, will conclude with its upcoming fifth season. The streamer also announced that the comedy-drama series will premiere in 2027.
Addressing the announcement, Aniston said, "We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to tell stories that reflect what’s happening in the world around us with a twist of dark humor." Meanwhile, Witherspoon said, "This was always more than a show about a newsroom — it was a show about why the newsroom matters. About freedom of the press and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost. Telling that story has been the creative privilege of my career."
Aniston stars as Alex Levy, the anchor of a popular morning news program, who is teamed up with the impulsive Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) after her former partner is accused of sexual misconduct. The Morning Show follows the various public and personal hurdles that Levy and Jackson have to brave to sustain their careers.
The cast of the upcoming season includes Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie, Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes, Lizzy Caplan, and Jon Hamm, among others.
Charlotte Stoudt serves as the showrunner for The Morning Show and serves as an executive producer along with Aniston and Witherspoon. Media Res, Hello Sunshine, and Echo Films backs The Morning Show along with Apple.
