Actor Zendaya, who will be seen in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, in a recent interview shared how she struggled to deliver her lines due to the biting cold in Iceland that froze her mouth.
Zendaya said, "I had my lines, and I wanted to have them so down. I psyched myself out a little bit. It was particularly cold. It was in Iceland. My mouth was just frozen. There is nothing coming out. My mouth would not move," as she added that she felt really embarrassed, but it was a pleasure to be even showing up in such a situation. "Literally. It came out like, ‘Blah blah blah.’ So embarrassing. But I will say, I think just showing up in any situation like this… It was such a pleasure and a gift to be able to share scenes with people you admire. Part of you has to compartmentalize to a degree. Lock in, we’re working. But I was so moved and excited to be there and wanted to do my best work.”
Last seen in The Drama, opposite Robert Pattinson, Zendaya will also be seen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Dune: Part Three, in addition to a voice role in Shrek 5.
Based on Homer’s iconic Greek poem, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the ruler of Ithaca, as he undertakes a dangerous voyage back home in the aftermath of the Trojan War. Matt Damon essays the lead role, while Tom Holland plays his son Telemachus. Anne Hathaway stars as Penelope. The ensemble cast also includes Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron.
Written and directed by Christopher Nolan and produced under Syncopy by Nolan and Emma Thomas, The Odyssey has also generated attention for another milestone—it is being mounted entirely using IMAX cameras, becoming the first feature film to do so.
The Odyssey is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 17.
