Earlier, we reported about Rachel McAdams reuniting with her Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi for a horror film titled Send Help. Ahead of its release later this week, Raimi talked about the film and casting McAdams in it.

Explaining his decision to cast the actor in the film, Raimi told IGN that his experience working with her made him discover her brilliance and versatility.

Recalling a conversation he had with McAdams about how he wanted the character in Send Help to be, Raimi said that McAdams understood the assignment without him having to explain it too much. "Instead of talking about character, I was saying, 'Now, you are going to hit a ghost, and that ghost is going to throw you a right jab. You go back and hit the couch, and now it leaps upon you, but you raise your knees, catch it in a flying angel and launch it off!'"

Raimi said that he did not expect that McAdams would understand what he meant by the aforementioned description. "I expected her to go, 'What the hell are you talking about?' Instead, it was like, 'Where do I land?' 'How heavy is the ghost?' I love how she does not question the absurdity of it," the filmmaker said about his Send Help star.

Raimi also shared his appreciation for how McAdams made an earnest attempt to make the potentially absurd scenarios in the film look as real and great as possible. For this reason, Raimi believed that McAdams is the "only actor" appropriate for the role.

The horror film, also starring Dylan O'Brien, is expected to hit theatres in India on January 30, Friday. Meanwhile, early Send Help movie reviews have mostly been positive, with critics praising Raimi's skill in mining thrillers out of a smart screenplay, as well as O'Brien and McAdams' performances.
