Jason Momoa has unleashed a new avatar in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In the new short teaser shared by James Gunn, the Aquaman actor was seen as Lobo, the infamous intergalactic bounty hunter, riding his motorcycle and sporting fangs.
Milly Alcock, who is known for her work in House of the Dragon, essays the role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl (Superman's cousin) in the film which reveals her dark past and follows her journey across the galaxy on a murderous quest for revenge. Craig Gillespie, who has directed films like I, Tonya (2017) and Cruella (2021), is directing Supergirl (2026) from a script by Ana Nogueira.
Momoa's casting as Lobo was announced back in 2024. In the comics, Lobo comes from the planet Czarnia and has a violent personality. He is equally powerful and has superhuman strength, regenerative abilities, and near invulnerability.
Based on Tom King and and Bilquis Evely's DC comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Supergirl (2026) is is the second film in Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted DC Universe after last year's Superman, starring David Corenswet in the titular role and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham are also part of the cast playing Ruthye Marye Knoll, Zor-El, and Alura In-Ze, respectively. Alcock made a cameo appearance towards the end of Superman (2025).
Ramin Djawadi, who has previously composed music for Iron Man (2008) and Game of Thrones, is composing music for the film. Gunn and Safran, co-CEOs of DC Studios are producing the film. Warner Bros Pictures, Troll Court Entertainment Production, and The Safran Company are the banners backing the film.
Supergirl (2026) will release on June 26, 2026.
