Netflix series Kennedy finds actors to complete the titular family

The first season will revolve around the unlikely emergence of Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children, of whom Jack, the second son, rebels against living in the shadow of his older brother

Major casting announcements of the upcoming Netflix drama series Kennedy have been made, with Laura Donnelly set to star opposite Michael Fassbender, who will play Joe Kennedy Sr, Nick Robinson, and Joshuah Melnick. While Donnelly is cast as Rose Kennedy, Robinson and Melnick will star as Joe Kennedy Jr and Jack (John) Kennedy.

The three regulars will be joining a recurring cast which includes Ben Miles, who plays Eddie Moore, Imogen Poots as Gloria, Lydia Peckham as Rosemary Kennedy, Saura Lightfoot-Leon as Kick Kennedy, and Cole Doman as Lem Billings.

A period drama chronicling the lives, loves, losses, and rivalries of the Kennedy family, the eight-episode first season will revolve around the unlikely emergence of Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children, of whom Jack, the second son, rebels against living in the shadow of his older brother.

With Sam Shaw as the showrunner and Thomas Vinterberg as the director, the series from Chernin Entertainment is based on Fredrik Lovegall's book, JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956.
