Actor Sophie Turner, earned the spotlight globally through her performance as Sansa Stark in the critically acclaimed show Game of Thrones, adapted from George RR Martin's books. However, she revealed that she can't watch the series anymore and the popular theme song of the show has given her "PTSD."
After portraying Sansa in all the eight seasons of the show from 2011-19, Sophie has not been able to rewatch Game of Thrones and now sees the programme in a "totally different" way.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Turner opened up about her role and the show's impact in her life and career. When the host asked her if she ever watches it again, she said, "No! I mean, maybe like, season one, I watched it with my parents, and then my parents were like, ‘Whoa! No! No, no, no, no!’ But no, I can't watch it. I mean, hearing the Game of Thrones theme tune gives me PTSD. I see it totally different. I learnt how to act during that show in front of millions of people — it was really embarrassing."
When probed about her role in the much-anticipated Tom Raider adaptation and her role as Lara Croft, she teased, "You’re going to see it on Amazon Prime in a while because we haven't started shooting yet. I've been training since February last year, so I feel like I could probably beat you up right now."
Although Turner is not interested in watching the series again, she is still open to reprising her role as Sansa in any upcoming Game of Thrones spinoffs. "Show me the money," she remarked, before adding, "I don't know, I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it. But I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in Game of Thrones, and no one else was really happy with their ending. I feel like I got a good one, and so I don't know if I could revisit it."
She further added, "Maybe it would be an utter joy, or maybe it would be trying to cling on to something that was magic back in the day that can't be recreated. I would have to see a script."
While season 3 of Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, based on the Targaryen dynasty is awaiting release, another spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is scheduled to hit JioHotstar from January 19. Around the same time, on January 21, Sophie Turner's heist thriller series Steal is set for premiere on Prime Video.
