Production on Avengers: Secret Wars commenced recently at Pinewood Studios, only to be halted immediately afterwards, reports UK industry tracker Filmbase. The report from the tracker, which alerts freelancers of work in television and film in the UK, also reveals that the whole crew behind the film has been sent packing for a five-week-long break.
Filmbase talks to film crew for updates, so the report can only be viewed as one that comes from a reliable source instead of the official confirmation. The Russo Brothers or Marvel Studios are yet to offer a clarification on the production development related to Avengers: Secret Wars. Principal photography is expected to resume in late September, the report indicates.
The Russo Brothers recently revealed that production on Avengers: Secret Wars would commence in 2026-mid or so. However, according to reports, it was pushed to August, something which goes in agreement with the Filmbase information.
The filmmaker duo have not spoken about it at the recent San Diego Comic-Con event. At the time, the directors told Collider that Avengers: Doomsday was in its finishing stage and that its sequel was in a preparatory phase, and they described this as a complicated yet thrilling period for them.
It took them around six months for them to wrap Avengers: Doomsday at Pinewood Studios, from April last year to September. Despite the completion of production on it, Marvel Studios has scheduled it only for a December 18 release in theatres. The film is set to release theatrically on the same date as Dune: Part Three, which is reportedly the final instalment in Denis Villeneuve's ambitious sci-fi and fantasy saga. The simultaneous expected release of both films has already paved the way for 'Dunesday' hashtags to trend on social media, similar to the 'Barbenheimer' trend from three years ago.
