A newly engaged Ashley (Cailee Spaeny) is curious about Lindsay (Carey Mulligan's) marriage in the trailer of Beef season 2. Netflix unveiled the teaser for the series on Thursday.
The teaser features Ashley, engaged to Austin (Charles Melton), learning from Mulligan that her marriage to Josh (Oscar Isaac) is dreamy on the outside but has wide cracks on the inside. The former couple then stumble upon Isaac resorting to violence against Mulligan and click a picture, which begins a deep-seated conflict. The trailer also features a third couple, Youn Yuh Jung and Song Kang Ho.
The plotline of Beef 2 reads, "A newly engaged couple (Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton) become entangled in the unravelling marriage of their general manager and his wife (Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan). Both couples vie for the approval of the elitist club's billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh Jung), who struggles to manage her own scandal involving her second husband (Song Kang Ho)."
Lee Sung Jin created Beef, for which he also serves as a showrunner. The first season of the series, starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, was inspired by Sung Jin's personal road rage experience. Sung Jin also serves as an executive producer alongside Yeun, Wong, Isaac, Mulligan, and season two stars Melton and Spaeny. Director Jake Schreier also serves as an executive producer. A24 backs the series along with Netflix.
Speaking about the series, creator Lee Sung Jin said, “Each generation starts off thinking that they’ll never become what they see in the older generation. But with the passage of time and the pressures of capitalism, each generation soon discovers why the older generations are the way they are.”
Seoyeon Jang, William Fichtner, Mikaela Hoover, and BM also star in the second season of Beef. The second season is all set to premiere on Netflix on April 16.
