Netflix announced that Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson will be joining the cast of Ransom Canyon. The announcement comes on the heels of the start of filming for the second season of the drama.

April Blair created Ransom Canyon, adapting Jodi Thomas' books of the same name for the streamer. Blair also serves as an executive producer along with lead star Josh Duhamel, director Amanda Marsalis, Dan Angel, and Joe Fazzio. The first season premiered on Netflix on April 17.

The first season revolves around the romance shared between Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), a stoic rancher and Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly), a community leader. They are caught between a battle waged to gain control of the ranch lands of Texas, USA.

Clarkson was nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Pieces of April. She is also known for her roles in Easy A, Shutter Island, and Sharp Objects.
