Warner Bros. has commenced the production of the Korean remake of The Intern in Seoul. The 2015 workplace dramedy featured Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

The 2015 film depicts an unexpected friendship between a 70-year-old man and his millennial CEO. The mixed reviews it received did not stop the movie from becoming successful.

The remake stars Kim Do-young, known for Kim Ji-young: Born 1982, with Choi Min-sik in De Niro's role and Han So-hee as the millennial CEO, originally played by Anne Hathaway. Choi is well-known for his performances in Park Chan-wook's films: Oldboy (2003), Lady Vengeance (2005), I Saw the Devil (2010), New World (2013), and The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014). Han shot to popularity with her hit K-drama romance The World of the Married, and has starred in Netflix's My Name and Disney+'s Soundtrack #1.

The idea of a Korean remake could be attributed to The Intern's box-office success in South Korea, with a gross of $24 million. Warner Bros also had a good 2025 in the Southeast Asian nation, as Brad Pitt's F1, which made $39 million. The film must maintain its momentum to compete with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which has earned $38.6 million.
