The makers of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Lord Ram and Sita as well as Yash as Raavan, started their promotions for the film with an event earlier this Saturday. At the event, Sai Pallavi said, "It is not easy for actors to get roles like this. I do not think I chose the role. I think I was blessed to play the character. It is not an easy job to portray a Goddess." Reflecting on the significance of the role in her career, she added, "There needs to be a team who is putting their heart and soul into making it the best version of what they can present to the world so that it becomes historic enough for the rest of the world to get back to in the future." Expressing her gratitude to producer Namit Malhotra, she added, "Thank you for choosing me for one such project."
Sai Pallavi also shared that a role such as that of Sita has its nuances that go beyond the screenplay and that she even sought divine intervention for the character.
"It is not something that you can write down on a piece of paper, and say, 'This is how I am going to play.' I would just meditate and say, 'Sita Amma, you just act through me. Whatever comes through me is what you want for the film,'" the actor explained.
The actor noted that she kept herself "as pure as possible, at least in my thoughts, to keep it very neutral so that I have the best version of me performing there." She added, speaking in Hindi, that in her attempt attempt to play the role in the aforementioned way, she has learnt quite a lot.
Sai made a note of the importance of the promotional day for her and her Ramayana team as well. "I have worked on this film for maybe three years, but they have always been on ten years now," she said, pointing at Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari. "I am as excited and humbled as all of them for it."
